For years now, people have been begging HBO to move towards a standalone streaming option. HBO has refused by claiming that they didn’t need to do such a thing even as Netflix passes up HBO subscriber-wise.
Now, Time Warner Cable is rumored to be looking to launch HBO through broadband-only packages offered by other ISPs, reports Bloomberg.
Granted, AT&T and Comcast have also offered HBO with a small number of cable channels and broadband service. Unfortuately, the price of those packages skyrocketed after six months.
Other details have so far not been confirmed so we are still left to wonder whether this would ACTUALLY be an affordable package for those not wanting to spend a lot on their broadband bill.
