For years now, cities have been allowing incumbent cable providers to do whatever they want. Now, cities are finally realizing that they can in fact stand up to the providers.
The Danville City Commission approved a first reading Monday of two ordinances denying the transfer of agreement of Time Warner Cable to Comcast. If the city denies the transfer of agreement, the cable company and the city could end up in court. However, City Manager Ron Scott said the city hopes that an agreement between TWC and the city over non-compliancy issues associated with an expired franchise agreement can still be reached. – CentralKYNews
Sadly, rather than make changes, the providers will take the cities to court and force them to spend taxpayer money that they don’t have.
