In Whatcom County, Washington, city officials are calling out Comcast for not presenting the city with an audited financial statement. The financial statement, required under an agreement that Comcast signed with the city in 1996, is important for the city as it could show that Comcast owes them money.

This is Comcast that we are talking about. Their history of under-paying cities is staggering to say the least.

For example:

  • Bellingham, Washington – A franchise fee audit conducted for the city in 2010 found Comcast owed the city $2,733.
  • Covington, Washington – A franchise fee audit conducted for the city in 2013 found that Comcast owed the city $38,000.
  • Clark, Washington – A franchise fee audit conducted for the city/county found that for the year 2000, Comcast owed the city/county $35,000. Several years later, another franchise fee audit found that for years 2003-2008, Comcast owed the city an additional $3,318.
  • Birmingham, California – A franchise fee audit conducted for the city found that for years 2002-2004, Comcast owed the city $52,500.
  • Davis, California – A franchise fee audit conducted for the city found that for year 2003, Comcast owed the city $9,226.
  • Roseville, California – A franchise fee audit conducted for the city found that for years 2004-2005, Comcast owed the city $130,589.
  • Nevada City, California – A franchise fee audit conducted for the city found that for the years 2006-2012, Comcast had made numerous under-payments. The city eventually came to a “settlement” with Comcast for $7,000.
  • Hartwell, Georgia – A franchise fee audit conducted for the city found that for the years 2010-2012, Comcast owed the city $5,000.
  • McDuffie, Georgia – A franchise fee audit conducted for the city found that for the years 2011-2013, Comcast owed the city $5,891.
  • Woodstock, Georgia – A franchise fee audit conducted for the city found that for the years 2009-2011, Comcast owed the city $26,203.
  • Shakopee, Minnesota – A franchise fee audit conducted for the city found that for the years 2011-2012, Comcast owed the city $26,837.
  • St. Louis Park, Minnesota – A franchise fee audit conducted for the city found that for the year 2014, Comcast owed the city around $10,000.
  • Roseville, Minnesota – A franchise fee audit conducted for the city found that for the years 2009-2011, Comcast owed the city $41,568.
  • Aldermen, Mississippi – A franchise fee audit conducted for the city found that for undisclosed past years , Comcast owed the city $19,674.
  • Lower Merion, Pennsylvania – A franchise fee audit conducted for the city found that for the years 2008-2010, Comcast owed the city $21,740.
  • Harford, Maryland – A franchise fee audit conducted for the city found that for the years 2011-2013, Comcast owed the city $70,034.
